CORPUS CHRISTI - Hamlin Middle School Principal Delma Yzaguirre says after several parent phone calls she believes close to 20 of her students took the drug now being identified as clonidine. Clonidine treats high blood pressure and also treats attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Some of the students taken to Driscoll Children's Hospital Wednesday were back in school today. All students involved in yesterday's events will face consequences according to Yzaguirre.
Counselors were brought in Thursday to take with any students. The school says they plan to use Wednesdays events as a teaching tool to better inform their students about the dangers of taking drugs.
