CORPUS CHRISTI -- A man accused of cutting up his grandmother in February has picked up some new charges while in jail.
David Christy, 27, now has 6 counts of possessing a deadly weapon against him. After court documents say he sharpened 6 plastic spoons while behind bars at the Nueces County Jail.
Officers says he acquired these charges while awaiting results on his mental evaluation. Those results will determine if Christy is fit to stand trial.
Christy told investigators he cut up his grandmother's body with a chainsaw, put the parts in trash bags and buried them in her backyard at her home on Bentwood.
Christy's attorney requested an investigation into family medical records out of San Antonio pending the results of his mental status.
