CORPUS CHRISTI - The Moody Trojans have been impressive to start the season, winning four of their first six games. As always they have a solid core, with plenty of strong arms in the rotation, highlighted by Kenny Saenz who has been nearly untouchable in his first two starts.
"On the mound you gotta have a lot of confidence and be able to trust yourself and swing and that mindset that any of your pitches can beat their swing," said Saenz.
Through a pair of games, the Trojans ace has struck out 35 batters boasting an ERA of around 0.30.
"It's not how hard ya throw its how effective and I know I can compete with anyone out there," he said.
"Kenny has been a big help, he has been getting better and better and stick wise he is a monster too," said Outfielder JD Garcia.
Saenz, who stands maybe 5'7" told me that his motivation to be the best comes directly from his height, or lack there of.
"I have always been told I am too small and this is a big man sport but everyday I try to show people you don't have to be a monster to play," said Saenz.
He's man of many pitches, and interestingly enough many nicknames.
"Special K or Kenny Powers even Kenny G, and it's funny," said Saenz.
