CORPUS CHRISTI -- If you weren't muddy this morning, you probably weren't at this year's Monster Mash Mud Dash at the Gulf Coast Race Track.
This event was for a great cause.
All money raised goes to the Junior League of Corpus Christi for their local community projects.
Weekend Anchor Melissa Schroeder tried out the mud pits along with other KRIS/KZTV team members.
The 5K race took you through muddy obstacles and some people even dressed up in costumes to win prizes in a contest.
Afterwards, runners got hosed down to clean off the mud,
and that water was cold!
Co-Chair Amanda Kocurek said, "They're getting very muddy and they're getting very cold. Unfortunately we did have a cold front blow in yesterday but the weather's been great. I've had some people say the weather actually helped them out a little bit."
More than a thousand people signed up for the event.
