MISSISSIPPI (WTVA) - Police in Houston, Mississippi have identified the woman they say abandoned her newborn baby in a storage unit last Friday as 25-year-old Cora Lynn Watkins. They also say this isn't the first time she's committed a crime of this nature.
Police say some children were playing outside Friday and heard a baby crying.
"They went back inside and got some of the family members," said Police Chief Bill Voyles. "They went out to the storage shed and found the little baby out there wrapped in a blanket.
Those family members rushed the baby to Trace Regional Hospital. He was later airlifted to Le Bohneur Children's Hospital in Memphis."The first incident we had back a couple years ago involved a child that was left at the Salvation Army in Houston," said Houston Police Officer Robert Ivy.
That incident landed Watkins in jail. She was later placed on probation for abandoning the first child.
