CORPUS CHRISTI - A Padre Island family grieves today after police found the body of a missing Alzheimer's patient in the canal near her home.
Harriet Mullin, 90, was reported missing last night by her daughter who lives with her on Tajamar Street near the JFK Causeway.
Police launched an intensive search of the area this morning with several officers, K9 units, boats, and some help from the Department of Public Safety helicopter.
Just before noon the Corpus Christi Police Department's Dive Team located a body near the home.
While police are not confirming it is Mrs. Mullin's body, they're not looking for anyone else in the area and have not asked for assistance in identifying the person found.
The department is waiting on confirmation from the medical examiner's office on the identity and cause of death.
Mullin's daughter told police that she wandered away from the home. Neighbors tell us she was known to walk the neighborhood on a regular basis with the husband.
