SAN ANTONIO - A memorial service will be held for a San Antonio police officer who died nearly three weeks after being hurt in a traffic accident while on duty.
A service was scheduled Wednesday morning at a San Antonio funeral home for Officer Edrees Mukhtar. He died Saturday.
Police say Mukhtar was injured Dec. 10 when his patrol car hit a wet spot on a street and went out of control while responding to a non-emergency call. The law enforcement vehicle collided with a pickup truck.
The accident report cited a failure to control speed and failure to drive in a single lane as factors in the wreck.
