CORPUS CHRISTI - Mark McClanahan plead guilty, today in court, to the online solicitation of a minor. Testimony for the punishment phase followed immediately after McClanahan's plea.
He faces a sentence of 2-15 years in prison with the possibility of a $10,000 fine and/or probation, as agreed upon in his plea deal.
Internet Crimes Against Children Corpus Christi Police Department Detective Alicia Escobar testified with details of an online conversation McClanahan had with the detective who posed as a 13-year-old girl in the online chat room.
The details in the script of the online conversation between McClanahan and the undercover officer were extremely graphic. After reading parts of the conversation in court, Detective Escobar said, "This is just the start of it. It gets worse."
McClanahan's former employer and McClanahan's wife testified on his behalf before Judge Jose Longoria broke for lunch. Testimony will continue at 1 p.m.
