Mattress Fire Investigated As Arson

CORPUS CHRISTI - A maintenance man for an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Reid Drive reported he heard the fire alarm in one of the nearby apartments around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The man told responding officers that he broke the sliding glass door to gain access and once inside he found a mattress on fire in the back bedroom.

He dragged the mattress, which was fully engulfed, to the balcony, then ran back inside to search for possible victims.

No one was located inside the apartment.

The CCFD Arson investigator is investigating.
