CORPUS CHRISTI - An overnight house fire on Lolita Street is being blamed on a match. Martha Moreno says she had talked about getting it for several years with her father, but they never got around to do it. Now with their house a total loss, they are relying on family and friends to help rebuild their lives.

It was their home since 1959, living there with their parents when they were younger. Thursday Moreno and her sister worked to salvage what's left.

"I saw that there was a little fire so i went and got a little bit of water and I threw it. It looked like it was going to go away but didn't," said Martha Moreno.

Martha then tried using a broom and a towel to extinguish the fire, it was at this point she realized it was time to leave.

"My room was all red and the windows were popping and I said,' Well I better get out of here," said Martha.

She went to a neighbor to call 911. Now what's left behind is charred memories.

"Tried to get what ever we can but there is nothing left," said Martha.

Maratha's sister was at work Wednesday evening when the fire broke out and had no idea how much damage the fire caused.

"I was in shock, I didn't know it was this major as soon as I saw the window I said it's a lot worst than thought," said Bertha Moreno.

While their home may be a total loss, they were able to save a few family pictures ones from their parents wedding.

"Things can be replaced TVs stuff like that but picture that's hard to replace memories like that" said Bertha.

Captain James Brown with the fire department estimates the fire cause $25,000 in damage.

While the Moreno sister were not injured from the fire, three CCFD firemen were. The first fireman received steam burns to his hands, shoulder, and face. He went to the hospital along with another firefighter who suffered burns to his hand while removing the other guy's air pack. A third firefighter had burns on his ear.
