CORPUS CHRISTI - Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan will perform at the Selena Auditorium Saturday night at the 6th Annual Corpus Christi Mariachi Music Fest. The 115-year-old group of 9 generations plays some of the greatest Mariachi music in the world.
Also joining them on Saturday night will be award-winning singer Virginia Stille. At the young age of 13, Stille won the "Best Vocalist in the U.S." award crowned by Mariachi Vargas in 2001. A Texas native, Stille says singing Mariachi is her dream.
Along with Stille and Mariachi Vargas, some local groups will perform as well. Mariachi Nuevo Royal, a group from Alice, Texas, will also take the stage. That group has been together performing for 8 years, now, and is excited to bring their ensemble to the American Bank Center.
Mariachi Javelina of Texas A&M University Kingsville will also perform Saturday night. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. but with Roar By The Shore Bikefest in town, it's suggested concert attendees arrive well in advance. Tickets are still available and range from $27-$102. Visit the American Bank Center website for ticket information.
