CORPUS CHRISTI - An police lieutenant reviewing reports for the night around 4:00 a.m. when he heard loud noises coming from nearby. Lt. Nichols went drove towards the area and noticed a man standing next to a car with a hammer in his hand.
Wayne Dimbleby, 28, was ordered to put down the hammer and get on the ground. He tossed the hammer through the broken passenger side window of the car and followed the lieutenant's commands. He's charged with auto burglary.
During the investigation police say the registered owner of the car left the vehicle overnight when it broke down. She also said Dimbleby is a friend of her boyfriends. According to police, she did not give the man permission to break into her car.
