CORPUS CHRISTI - An accident on the Crosstown Expressway above Leopard St. caused the closure of that part of 286 for hours today.
One man said he was changing a truck tire on the side of the highway with the help of another man when a silver car slammed into the back of the truck.
The impact caused the truck to run over one of the men, hurting him. Police said he had several broken bones, but added his injuries were minor compared to what they could have been.
An ambulance took the man who was run over to Spohn Memorial where he's expected to be OK. Another ambulance took the woman driving the silver car to the hospital with a minor injury. Police had traffic exit at Leopard as a temporary detour.
They suspect the woman driving the silver car was at fault for the crash, but were unsure what citation to give her.
Police want to remind everyone to exit the highway if they need make emergency repairs to a car or truck.
