Man Opens Fire, Locks Himself in Home

CORPUS CHRISTI - Tense moments in a home off Ayers and Viola this morning when a man opened fire in his home and then locked himself inside.

S.W.A.T and hostage negotiators responded to the scene a little after 9 am.

Police say the man told them he was going to kill himself and wouldn't be taken alive.

What followed was a nearly two hour standoff before the man finally surrendered.

The suspect is 23 year old Joshua Bocanegra. Police arrested him for deadly conduct.

Neighbors say his family members were inside the house with him.

One neighbor told us his mother came rushing out after the shots were fired, asking people to call the police.

No one was hurt.
