Man in Wheelchair Hit by SUV

CORPUS CHRISTI - An accident at Lantana and Leopard this morning sent a man in a wheelchair to the hospital.

Police say the man was in the crosswalk, near the intersection, when a car making a left turn hit him.

The impact happened at a very low speed and just knocked the motorized wheel chair over, but the man hit his head on the pavement.

He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries; the driver was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.
