CORPUS CHRISTI -- A man is dead and another is fighting for his life Tuesday. After a shooting Monday night on the southside of town. The shooting happened at the Four Winds Apartment complex near Weber and SPID.

A few neighbors in the area including Christine Boyce said she's now concerned about the safety of the neighborhood.

"Oh that was very scary," Boyce said.

Some people who live at the Four Winds were settled in for the evening when they heard some commotion going on outside and that's when police said shots rang out.

"I heard a lot of ruckus going on, I came outside, I seen police everywhere and I seen the crime tape," Boyce said.

Police said, around 8:30 PM, they got a call that two men showed up to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. One of the men has been identified by the medical examiner as Jasmen Evans, 24, who police said died shortly after arriving.

The other man, a 20-year old, who has not been identified had a gunshot wound to the head, police said, he's in serious condition. Authorities said both men were shot at Four Winds. Neighbors living there spoke about the shooting.

"It worries me, it's very scary, I just hope this comes to an end," Boyce added.

However, the end is not near, police said, they have no suspect information but they did find a gun at the scene along with a bloody trail.

Jess Mendez, who lives in the complex said he was shocked to learn about this kind of violence in his neighborhood.

"I just saw a blood stain here in the parking lot, then officers said I couldn't leave because this whole place was covered. This is the first time I've ever seen, I mean heard of a shooting in the area," Mendez said.

Police taped off the area for resident's safety and marked the street with letters identifying where the blood stains were.

Boyce said this shooting has pushed her one step closer to leaving the area.

"If it happens again I'm definitely out of here," she said.

Police are asking anyone with information about this crime to call 888-TIPS
