Beeville Man Finds Jesus Image on Tortilla

BEEVILLE - An 80-year-old Beeville man says he got a message from up above while eating breakfast last week. He found the image of Jesus in his tortilla.
Ernesto Garza spends every morning eating breakfast at La Amistad Adult Daycare.
But Wednesday morning's routine was nothing normal. First, a young girl served him the breakfast he usually picks up at the cafeteria, then he started to eat a tortilla he now carries in a plastic container.
"I wasn't looking for nothing, I was looking to eat my tortilla," Garza said. But, he refused once he noticed a clear image on his breakfast.
"I seen that brown spot there on the tortilla and it's a picture," Garza showed us. Its a picture, he says, of Jesus Christ.
"Here's the eyes, nose, mouth, mustache," he said while pointing out parts of the image.
And since his amazing discovery, Garza says he's been blessed. He has since been in touch with some long lost family members. "I talked to 3 of them that I haven't talked to in a long time," he said, "that's another miracle."
Garza says he's not surprised he made the discovery at La Amistad, where their motto is 'serving humanity to honor God.'
"I want people to see what happens on La Amistad," Garza told us, "this is a good place here, it's a very good place for old people and all the people here are very nice."
Garza says everyone at the daycare has been intrigued by his tortilla. He doesn't mind showing it off, and this self-described very religious man hopes others get God's message from his tortilla.
"Maybe just God looking after me, I have no idea," Garza told us.
Even though even he is not sure exactly what that is.
Garza is keeping the tortilla in his freezer for now. He hopes to find a way to preserve and frame it.
