CORPUS CHRISTI - John Peyton has memories of what happened to him November 30th. A busted lip, the bloody shirt, and jacket he says he was wearing the night of an alleged assault in front of this house on the 5700 block of the Crosstown Expressway. Peyton says a muscular black man beat him up.

"He just violently grabbed my arm and he said 'hey you're looking for me. I said 'no, I'm not looking for you," he recalled.

Peyton, who's disabled, and the son of one of our station employees, says the man had intimidated him at this same location before. But this time, Peyton said the man beat him for what seemed like 20 minutes. "He threw me on the ground and then grabbed my throat and started ripping at my throat and told me he was going to kill me 5 times."

Peyton remembers he kept losing consciousness while the man repeatedly smashed his fists into the sides of Peyton's head. And that 2 of the man's friends just watched and laughed.

We asked, "why would you go back?" "That's the only way I have to walk home. It's the only route that I have to walk home," said Peyton.

Bloodied and beaten, Peyton managed to get home and call police. "I told 'em everything. I told 'em I know exactly where the house is and everything else, and they acted like they didn't care about it."

On the police report Peyton recounted to officers that the man told him 'if you ever walk in front of my house again, I'll beat your *** some more.'

We went to the house Peyton described and knocked on the door 3 times. No one answered.

We called CCPD 3 times. All they'll say is the case is under investigation.

Peyton is a dad, and will spend Christmas with his kids. But he doesn't want to be afraid for their safety or his.
