CORPUS CHRISTI - A bank robber is now behind bars after robbing a local bank.
Forty-two year old Fred Simmons, walked into the Wells Fargo on Leopard and Carancahua around 3:30 Thursday afternoon and handed a teller a note demanding cash. Simmons left but was arrested in a matter of minutes thanks to an alert meter reader.
Employees told the meter reader what had happened and he spotted the crook and told police where to find him.
Bike patrol officers arrested him about three blocks away.
