CORPUS CHRISTI - A 55-year-old man is behind bars tonight after a 2 hour SWAT standoff at his home on Talisman Street, Friday night.

"He's a nice man. He's just a loner, you know, a single guy. A single man that works and he's been here for 5 years by himself."

Juan Salazar says his Uncle, Juan Medina, is a lonely man, though he does occasionally date.

"He goes around and, you know, brings a date home every now and then. So that's what we heard, the he got into it with some girl that we don't even know," Salazar said.

Juan says he was at home watching TV when a cold feeling crept up his spine.

"We saw it on the news, and then I had a gut feeling that it would be him, because I had known that he was drinking during the day and he is a heavy drinker. He's a loner," said Salazar.

Juan arrived to find a police SWAT team outside his uncle's home. Officers say around 8:40 Friday night, Medina got into an argument with a 32 year old woman, that ended with Medina firing off a shot.

The woman was not hit and left unharmed, but when officers arrived, Medina refused to leave his house.

Juan told me, "He's had girlfriends, a couple of live-ins, but he's just by himself, you know? I don't know what could have triggered him to not turn himself in."

Nearly 2 hours later, the SWAT team moved in, breaking the glass on the back door and tossing stun grenades inside.

Police arrested Medina without a fight and charged him with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

And now, his nephew is left to pick up the mess. Juan has found a good home for his uncle's dog, Bolt, and returned the house keys to the landlord. He says alcohol and loneliness drove his uncle to make poor decisions, and that the two make for a dangerous combination.

Medina's bond has been set at $61,000.
