PLANO - A man charged with attempting to bomb a suburban North Texas natural gas pipeline is scheduled for a court appearance.
Court records show that Anson Chi is due in federal court Monday in Plano for a pretrial hearing. The records indicate that Chi's competency also could be addressed.
The 34-year-old Chi is charged with malicious use of explosive materials, use of a destructive device during a crime and possession of a firearm that was not federally registered.
The charges stem from an incident last June in which a homemade bomb exploded on a natural gas regulator in the Dallas suburb of Plano. The device went off prematurely and caused little damage.
Chi lashed out for years online against what he sees as governmental oppression, including Facebook posts criticizing the Federal Reserve.
