CORPUS CHRISTI - The bayfront was painted pink this weekend as thousands of people turned out for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k walk.
KRIS Communications employees were more than happy to take part in this year's event alongside local officials, including Mayor Nelda Martinez and State Representative Todd Hunter.
It started at the Corpus Christi Water Gardens will more than 11,000 registered walkers taking part. Organizers say close to 2,000 more stopped by to offer their support for cancer research and survivors.
This was the 5th year of the event. Organizers say so far, they've raised $375,000 for cancer research.We want to give a huge thank you to everyone who showed up for the walk and everyone who fundraised to find a cure.
The fundraising effort continues with the sale of raffle tickets for a pink Chevy Camaro. You can purchase them at the American Cancer Society office on Alameda for only $10.
The car will be raffled-off live during a KRIS News broadcast on Halloween.
