Majority of Residents Surveyed Didn't Know About Litter Ordinance

CORPUS CHRISTI - The city's litter campaign has kicked off and as a new survey shows it's much needed. According to the City of Corpus Christi, only 20 percent of the 300 people surveyed by phone had any idea it was against city ordinance to litter.p

The city's 'Stop the Wrath' campaign has a direct goal of educating the public about existing anti-litter rules and get people to stop littering.

The ordinance already in place focuses on littering in public places, the beaches, construction sites, food establishments, and even open lots. It also requires pet owners to remove pet waste from public and private property.

Residents hauling stuff to the landfills must cover their loads so trash doesn't fly out into our streets.

A violation of the ordinance carries a $1,000 fine.
