CORPUS CHRISTI - There were a few lonely showers for the inland areas yesterday afternoon for Father's Day as the peak heating of the day induced some instability in the atmosphere. This opportunity for a stray shower or two will be the only chance of rain we have and it will be minimal and sparse with the heat taking over our forecast.
Today expect mostly sunny, hot and humid conditions with afternoon highs reaching the upper 90s. We'll be close to tying the record of 98 set back in 2011. Winds: SE 10-20 & gusting.
Tonight will be mainly clear with a few high clouds streaming overhead and warm overnight lows falling only into the upper 70s to lower 80s.
The heat will continue all week long with heat index values shooting near 105-110 each day! Be sure to stay hydrated with your outdoor activity and seek shaded spots frequently. There is a tropical wave near the Caribbean that we are keeping an eye on as we dig further into hurricane season.
