FORT WORTH, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf team capped its season Tuesday at the Lone Star Conference Golf Championship at The Golf Club at Champions Circle.
The Javelinas posted a 36-hole score of 689 in the two day event. After a combined score of 344 on Monday, the team posted a 345 on Tuesday. Ashley Rivera carded the team's best score of the day with an 83 and finished 27th overall with a team-best 168. Her twin Brandy Rivera was two shots back with a 36-hole score of 170 closing with an 89 after a team-best 81 the opening day.
After a 92 on the tournaments opening day, Ashley Coy had an 85 for the final 18 holes to finish third on the team with a 177 for a 7-shot improvement. Jessica Sellers, whose score did not count on the first day of the Championship, shaved five strokes off her score on the second day to finish with an 88. Fellow freshman Analysa Coy, who had an 86 to start the tournament, closed with a 92.
Third after the opening day, Tarleton scored a sizzling 297 on day two to win the team title by 12 strokes over Midwestern State. West Texas A&M's Glory Jangthongsiri won the team title by four shots over TSU's Isabell Jimenez-Perea.
