CORPUS CHRISTI - A judge has denied a request for lower bond for Jose Moreno, the man accused of killing another man at the Cadillac Bar earlier this year.
Moreno's request was denied by the judge based on the possibility of him being a flight risk. His prior convictions for drug possession, deadly conduct, driving while intoxicated, criminal trespass, evading arrest, and failure to identify as a fugitive were also a factor in the judge's decision.
The suspect is accused of shooting a man, also named Jose Moreno, inside the bar on June 29th. The victim was shot twice and another customer was wounded in the gunfire.
Moreno was caught 11 days later during a traffic stop on Tarlton Street. Police say Moreno and his girlfriend tried to lie about his identity to the officer. The girlfriend, Jessica Lopez, was arrested on a charge of hindering apprehension. A one year old child in the vehicle was turned over to a family member as the couple was arrested.
Along with the murder charge, Moreno's accused of possession of methamphetamine, abandonment/endangering a child, aggravated assault, and failure to identify.
