Long List of Charges for Police Chase Suspect

CORPUS CHRISTI - Police say 34-year-old Benigino "Benny" Alvarez rammed a police car after assaulting a woman in the 500 block of Rosewood. A witness says Alvarez used his SUV to smash into a car several times before police arrived.

Officers say he backed up into a police car before speeding off. He reportedly was weaving through residential streets and blowing through red lights before he was stopped on 16th Street.

Alvarez is charged him with evading arrest with a vehicle, criminal mischief, deadly conduct, assault on a public servant and assault causing bodily injury.
