CORPUS CHRISTI - Small business owners here in Corpus Christi are getting ready for the second annual Small Business Saturday tomorrow.

Some stores have signs letting their customers know when they are done with Black Friday, there are still deals to be had this weekend.

"Come support instead of going to bigger companies and helping them out," said the manager of Especially Me Boutique Janet Munoz.

Local shop owners say Small Business Saturday is a time to promote local owned businesses. Each retailer I spoke with had their own reasons as to why they think it's so important for Corpus Christi residents to shop locally.

"I believe small businesses are more contributing to the area here," said the co-owner of Pharaoh's Jewelers Isabel Salib.

Small businesses like Pharaoh's Jewelers will do things like sponsor little league teams and give money to local charities. On top of giving back all the local businesses we talked to say unlike larger corporate owned stores, they do their best to offer a more one on one experience with their shoppers.

"We like to focus on our customers. You know catering to them, giving them what they want. Special ordering for them," said the owner of Le'vu Boutique Crystal Torres.

"For local businesses everywhere, they need help and support from their community," said Munoz.

Tomorrow many small business say they will have sales to as much as 50 percent off or more on their merchandise.

"Just support all your small businesses. We're the ones here. Our money stays here. We live here and we will be able to give back more if we do really good for this Saturday," said Salib.

This is just the second year for Small Business Saturday in the Coastal Bend. But it's been a nationwide effort since 2010 and organizers even have a Facebook page that has more than 3-million "likes".
