CORPUS CHRISTI - Let the shopping begin! Shoppers across Corpus Christi flocked to stores today, to take advantage of the state's annual tax-free weekend, which began today.
"I got shoes, and...clothes and barrettes," said America Brown.
"Whatever we can get...as much as we can get if it's tax-free," said Mary Sparks.
This weekend, shoppers won't pay sales tax on things like clothes, shoes, school supplies and backpacks. That means buyers can save $8 for every $100 they spend. Retailers said that can mean big savings for some families.
"They save $100-$200. Depending on how much you buy, it saves you a lot of money. I would recommend to come in during a tax-free weekend even though the lines are long," said Gabriela Fernandez, sales associate at Aeropostale.
Shoppers have until Sunday night to take advantage of the tax savings.
