Local Native American Leader Weighs in on Redskins Controversy

CORPUS CHRISTI - The President of the South Texas Alliance of Indigenous People supports the recent push to change the name of Washington D.C.'s football team.

Many people find the term "Redskins" offensive. Larry "Running Turtle" Salazar agrees.

"We've been complaining about these things since 1492, and nothing has been done. Nothing has been done."

The NFL Team has had the same name for the past 80 years. Recently, President Obama spoke out in favor of a name change, but it's still unknown if the team will change its mascot.
