CORPUS CHRISTI - Tax Assessor-Collector Kevin Kieschnick and Rep. Abel Herrero (D-TX 34th District) are in Austin today to testify in support of House Bill 2648.
The legislation carried by Herrero is a joint effort with Kieschnick to stop motor vehicle fraud.
Since taking over the tax assessor-collector's office last year, Kieschnick says it has been a problem and he hopes this will help stop it.
The law would allow the department do background checks on companies applying for a motor vehicle title service license.
