Local Cops Don Aprons to Benefit Special Olympics

CORPUS CHRISTI - Corpus Christi tops are tough. That's why some of them traded in their handcuffs for aprons, Wednesday evening.

The officers served customers at Texas Roadhouse on SPID. They earned tips to benefit Special Olympics Texas.

"We try to raise money for Special Olympics athletes so they can participate in events-not only here in Corpus Christi, but in San Antonio...and Arlington," said Capt. Mike Alanis.

Local cops volunteer for Special Olympics fundraisers at least four times a year. The funds benefit more than 50,000 kids and adults with special needs who compete in the Special Olympics.
