CORPUS CHRISTI - Senior U.S. District Judge Hayden Head sentenced a Daniel Ricardo Barrientos of Corpus Christi to a 10 year sentence for soliciting a child for sex over the internet. While handing down his decision, Judge Head said the sentence is necessary to protect the public.
Barrientos was found guilty in March of trying to convince a single mother to allow him to have sex with her 12 and 14 year old daughters. Prosecutors say he was actually emailing, texting, and calling an officer working undercover with the Corpus Christi Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Prosecutors say Barrientos worked as a cook for a local chain restaurant. After serving the 121 month sentence he'll be under community supervision for 15 years, must register as a sex offender, and will have restricted access to children and the internet.
