ROBSTOWN -- The Nueces County Junior Livestock Show kicked off today in Robstown.
Along with a parade and roping competitions there's the
12th annual BBQ cook-off.
Proceeds from the contest go to support Sale Entries -- a scholarship fund -- and alumni charitable activities.
Chefs had the option of grilling chicken, pork, spare ribs or briskets.
some of the people out there said they cooked since 5:00 this morning.
Ernest Cervantes said, "We smoke 'em for three and we base them for about two hours. They come falling off the bone tender and that's the way the judges like it, so that's the way we cook 'em."
There's still plenty of great events at the livestock show.
It runs at the Robstown fairgrounds through next weekend.
