LIVE OAK COUNTY - With the possibility of icy road conditions, people out in Live Oak County wasted no time getting prepared.
"One minute everything is fine and than all of a sudden cars start sliding on the overpasses. It's just kind of fast," said Live Oak County Sheriff Larry Busby.
Sheriff Busby says the overpasses are always the first to ice over, and one of the most dangerous places to get in a wreck. The roads are expected to possibly ice over sometime tonight.
In preparation for the ice, TxDot has their trucks ready to cover roads with gravel. The material they use will give cars traction so that driver doesn't lose control on the roadway.
Sheriff Busby says he will also have a deputy on duty tonight, and DPS will have a trooper out to make sure roads are safe.
"My recommendation is if you don't have to be out there at 2, or after midnight... Especially if it's raining, if there's moisture. Don't be there," said Sheriff Busby.
Folks out in Live Oak County say if the roads freeze, they're ready.
"Well hopefully we're not gonna be able to... Or have to travel very far. So we'll just stay in doors if we have to," said Three Rivers Resident Gary Wieding.
Some quick advice from the Live Oak County Sheriff. He says if roads do ice over tonight, drivers need to slow down. He also says if you lose control on an icy road, don't slam on your breaks as that would just make the situation worse.
