Lewisville Man Killed in Early Morning I-37 Crash

Lewisville Man Killed, Two Others Injured in I-37 Crash

MATHIS - A spokesman for the Department of Public Safety says 34-year-old Juan Carlos Ugalde was killed this morning in a rollover crash three miles north of Mathis on Interstate 37. Ugalde's drivers license listed an address in Lewisville, Texas, just northwest of Dallas.

Eva McGee, a passenger in Ugalde's car, was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial with critical injuries. DPS says she has an address in San Antonio.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the car to flip as it was headed south on the interstate.

San Patricio County Justice of the Peace Daniel Garza was hit by a pickup while at the scene to pronounce the man's death.

A mile north of the accident, a fire truck was blocking the highway and redirecting traffic. The fire truck was hit by an 18-wheeler.

The driver of big rig said he did not see the fire truck. No one was hurt in that last accident. Police have not said if they will ticket the driver of the 18-wheeler.
