ARANSAS PASS - Several fire departments are now in Aransas Pass helping with efforts for fight a large brush fire that's threatening homes. Police called in the Department of Public Safety's helicopter to send out evacuation orders to residents living in a mobile home park near the fire.
The National Weather Service put out an emergency evacuation order for Aransas Pass:
"There is a large brush fire in the areas of 7th...8th...9th...10th and 11th streets on the north side of Aransas Pass. if you are in this area you are asked to evacuate the area immediately. do not stay and try to salvage any property. This is a very dangerous fire."
There's no confirmation yet on whether any homes have burned in the fire that's now along West 11th Street in Aransas Pass.
Authorities in Aransas Pass have requested tanker trucks from the Corpus Christi Fire Department, Annaville Volunteer Fire Department, and Flour Bluff Volunteer Fire Department.
The crews from Flour Bluff will be headed towards the ferry in Port Aransas to make the crossing.
