Kingsville Mens Track & Field Team Win LSC Outdoor Title

KINGSVILLE, Texas - The Texas A&M-Kingsville men's track & field team won their first Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the first time since 1970. This is the first conference championship the team has won under Head Coach Ryan Dall.

The Javelinas scored 175 points over the course of three days to become champions. Angelo State placed second with 153 points and Texas A&M-Commerce came in third with 114 points.

The women's track & field team placed fourth overall with 92 points. The team finished behind Tarleton State who had 122.5 points and ahead of McMurry University who had 67 points.

Kingsville dominated in the sprinting events for the championship with Tim Price, Amber Perry and Olympian Kaina Martinez.

Price won LSC titles in the men's 100m and 200m dashes. His time in the 100m dash was, a new personal best, 10.19 and in the 200m dash, 20.89. Martinez won LSC titles in the women's 100m and 200m dashes. Her times in both events were new personal best. Martinez's time in the 100m dash was 11.50 and the 200m dash, 24.08. Perry won the LSC title for the women's 400m dash with a time of 56.09.

Sergio Rios was crowned LSC champion in the men's 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles finals. His time in the 110m hurdles was a new personal best of 14.18 and in the 400m hurdles, 52.49.

Kingsville (Jonathan Woodson, Anthony Washington, Corbin Whalum, Tim Price) won the LSC title for the men's 4x100m relay with a time of 40.48.

In the field events, the Javelinas walked away with two titles. Jeron Robinson won the LSC title for the men's high jump with a height of 7'-3. 01" (2.21m). Javan Gray claimed the LSC men's javelin title with a new personal best mark of 215'-10. 55" (65.80m).

Trent Hesseltine came in second place in the men's high jump final with a height of 6'-11. 07" (2.11m). Christian Garcia placed fifth in the men's discus final with a new personal best mark of 156'- 6. 34" (47.71m).

In the men's 800m run final, Michal Idziak placed third with a time of 1:55.09. Idziak ran in the men's 1500m run final and placed third with a time of 4:02.86.

Brianna Bartosch placed fourth in the women's 100m hurdle finals with a new personal best time of 14.27.

In the women's high jump final, Amanda Haven finished in second place with a height of 5'-5. 75" (1.67m). Haven also place fourth in the women's long jump final with a length of 18'-9. 98" (5.74m). Alexis Williams placed second in the women's pole vault final with a height of 11'-4. 61" (3.47m).

The Javelinas next meet will be in Kingsville for the Texas A&M-Kingsville Last Chance Meet on May 11th as athletes try for better marks to make the NCAA Division II National Outdoor Championships.
