CORPUS CHRISTI - The King Mustangs had a great day in the pool Saturday at the District 29-5A swim meet. Both the boys and girls team won, in fact, the boys finished 100 points higher than 2nd place Alexander.
King sophomore Dale Lowder had a very impressive showing. He broke the district record in the 200 yard freestyle by more than 2 and a half seconds. He also was a part of the 200 yard medley relay team that broke the district record set back in 2000.
Coach of the year awards were also announced at the meet:
Female Swim Coach of the Year - Paul Kane, Laredo Alexander High School
Male Swim Coach of the Year - Chris Moralez, Corpus Christi King High School
Female and Male Diving Coach of the Year - Trey Collins, CCISD
