CORPUS CHRISTI - A jury has sentenced Eric Dimick to 60 years in prison for the aggravated kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl.
The prosecutor in the case had asked for that exact sentence during closing statements in the punishment phase.
The jury had a range of 5 to 99 years to consider. Judge David Stith informed them this afternoon that probation was not an option in this case.
The defendant's family spent the afternoon telling the court that he had turned to religion while being kept at the Nueces County Jail.
Dimick had admitted his role in taking the girl from Braesvalley Drive in December 2012. The girl was dragged into a Chevy Suburban and sexually assaulted before being left on the beach.
The jury did not convict Dimick of aggravated sexual assault. The judge declared a mistrial because they were unable to reach a verdict last week.
The other defendants in the case are already in prison for kidnapping and sex assault. Colton Visor was given a 30-year-sentence. Jacob Musich is serving a life sentence.
