K9 Unit Tracks Down Suspect, Later Attacked by Pitbull

CORPUS CHRISTI - A man who ran from a drug bust last night on Naylor Circle tries to hide under a house, but K9 officers are too smart to fall for that trick.

We're told he took off running as soon as narcotics officers pulled up to the home around 10 p.m. Once out the back door he ran down the street to hide beneath a home.

According to police, they found cocaine, a weapon, and some cash in the home.

Problems arose when the K-9 unit went into the house for a final check for anything illegal. Police tell us the homeowner's pitbull managed to get out of its cage and attacked the K-9.

Police had to shoot the pitbull. The police dog is fine, but we do not know if the pitbull survived its injuries.
