CORPUS CHRISTI - The jury considering the punishment for a teen accused of kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl heard disturbing phone calls made by the defendant while he was in jail.
A detective says Jacob Musich referred to his victim as a "dumb slut" while talking with his mother about the case. The recordings also include Musich asking his mother to get the newspaper for him because he wasn't sure why he was in jail.
Closing arguments are now underway in the case. Musich faces up to 99 years in prison after pleading guilty last week, just before testimony was to start in the trial.
Prosecutors say Musich, Colton Visor, and Eric Dimick were all involved in the plot to grab the girl from a southside neighborhood. However, Musich is believed to be the only person who raped the girl in the back of a Chevy Suburban. She was found hours later on Padre Island when she used a good samaritan's phone to call for help.
The girl testified last week that her life will not be the same as she suffers from extreme anxiety as a result of the attack.
Visor and Dimick will be tried at a later date.
