CORPUS CHRISTI - Investigators are still hard at work trying to get to the bottom of Judge Tom Greenwell's death.
Detectives believe the district judge took his own life on Monday by turning a gun on himself in his office at the courthouse. The sheriff's department has been looking over Greenwell's phone and financial records. They're looking into the possibility that extortion may have played a roll in his death.
On Friday, the sheriff issued a statement to local media -saying he will not release further details until the investigation is complete. The sheriff says he doesn't want the judges reputation to be tarnished by people drawing conclusions before the investigation is finished.
Memorial services will be held for Judge Greenwell on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church on Shoreline. It starts at 4PM and will be open to the public.
