CORPUS CHRISTI - Attorneys for the woman charged with capital murder in the drowning of her stepson are asking for a gag order.
David Stith has been designated the head of Laura Day's defense team. In his first act as lead defense counsel he sought to limit the media's access to the case.
Authorities say Day she let 6-year-old Taylor Syring swim in the surf without a life jacket and took too long to get him help after she found him unconscious in the water.
Defense attorneys requested a change of venue at her last hearing. Her husband testified that media coverage of the case has made it impossible for her to get a fair trial here.
The judge still hasn't made a decision on the venue change but did grant the gag order.
