Judge Adams Back on the Bench

CORPUS CHRISTI - Aransas County Court Judge William Adams returned to the bench today.
Judge Adams has been off the bench since November 2011 when his daughter posted this video that she had secretly recorded in 2004. She was 16 years old when her father whipped her with a belt for illegally downloading material from the Internet. Judge Adams was placed on paid leave and the State Commission on Judicial Conduct began an investigation. That wrapped up a month ago and Adams was given a public warning and put on suspension. Last week, his suspension was lifted by the State Supreme Court.
Wednesday morning people filed into the court room to have Judge William Adams preside over their cases.
Security was heightened on Judge Adams' first day back. Before going into the courtroom, everyone had to go through the medal detector. The Sheriffs Department says that all of the new additions are just new security measures.
Most people walking into the court room knew the judge was the same man who was caught on tape beating his daughter with a belt. But as people came out they told us they were pleasantly surprised at how professional Judge Adams was when they had to go in front of him.
Gaskin, whose case was heard by Adams, said when appearing in front of Adams it was "very comfortable, just what you'd expect if you would appear before any judge." Tony Galindo, who case was also heard by Adams said,"he's being a professional and that's what his job is."
But Blake Edwards said,"I was scared at first, but he's a good judge."
Adams is back to his routine of presiding over cases he will no longer be allowed to deal with cases involving violence with children.
