ALICE - Officials at the Jim Wells County Jail have added charges of drug possession and assaulting a public servant to the rap sheet against 29-year-old Jesus Gonzalez Jr.
Gonzalez allegedly conspired with his girlfriend, Nola Renee Morales, to smuggle drugs into the jail via mail. Jail officials noticed there was an unusual bump behind the stamp of a letter recieved at the facility.
Behind the stamp authorities found two tabs of Cyboxone, a narcotic.
Further investigation revealed the name listed as the sender on the envelope did not match the name of the woman who signed 'Nola' on the letter inside.
Captain Brandon Torres of the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office says investigators were able to find phone conversations between the two in which Morales admitted to using a fake name to mail the drugs.
Morales was questioned and arrested when she came by the jail for visitation.
Gonzalez allegedly assaulted a jailer while being booked on the possession charge.
