Jim Wells County Commissioner Out of the Hospital

JIM WELLS COUNTY - We have new information on Jim Wells County Commissioner Wally Alanis, who shot himself last month in a suicide attempt. The Texas Rangers are reporting that Alanis is out of the hospital, and has been moved to a nursing home in Mathis, but is having trouble communicating effectively.

According to a report by the Texas Rangers, Alanis is accused of sexually assaulting his grandaughter. As we've reported, Alanis remains on the Jim Wells County payroll. Precinct two Commissioner Ventura Garcia has taken over Alanis's district in his absence.
