KINGSVILLE, Texas - In the first official NCAA South Central Poll for 2014, the Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team is ranked third in the region and are also gaining national attention.
In the first regional poll, the Javelinas are ranked behind Colorado- Mesa and Lone Star Conference rival West Texas A&M. At No. 3, the Hoggies are head of St. Edward's and St. Mary's, who sit fourth and fifth, respectively. Kingsville's opponent in Lone Star Conference action this weekend, Angelo State, is sixth in the poll. New Mexico Highland and Colorado School of the Mines round eight ranked region teams.
The Javelinas, which began the season ranked fourth nationally after a school-record 42 wins, is climbing back up the national polls. They are ranked 19th in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper national rankings.
