Javelina Men Play Host To St. Edward's
The Texas A&M-Kingsville men's basketball team hosts St. Edward's Tuesday evening on Kingsville Hampton Inn Court looking to claim its first home win of the season.
The Javelinas enter the weekend with a 2-4 mark overall with one of those wins coming against the Hilltoppers last Tuesday in Austin. St. Edward's comes into the weekend with a .500 record.
In the meeting last week in Austin, A&M-Kingsville won 82-80 as Irvin Hollinger scored with eight seconds left. Adonis Bailey led the Javelinas in scoring with 19 points, with four others in double figures. Rashad Basey added 16 to go with team-bests in seven rebounds and five assists. Ta'Quan McDew tallied 15 points, while Ronald Scott and Jordan Jahr had 13 and 10, respectively.
The Hilltoppers were led by James Stukes, who had a game-high 22 points. Harley Nussman contributed a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Ethan Gilbert had 12.
Basey leads the Javelinas in scoring with five different players averaging 10 points or more and has 12 steals. Scott, who has a team-best 27 assists, is second in scoring with 12.0 points. McDew is averaging 11.5 points, Bailey is scoring 10.3 ppg and Jahr 10. Jahr leads the team with 4.4 rebounds a game.
Stukes leads St. Edward's with 17 ppg, while Nussman is the team's top rebounder at 8 .9 rpg.
