KINGSVILLE, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville senior football players Robert Armstrong, Zane Brown and Angel have been named to the 25th Annual USA College Football Division II Preseason All-Allmerica team it was recently announced.
Armstrong and Millan each received second-team All-America honors, while Zane Brown was a third-team selection to the preseason team.
Armstrong was one of three Lone Star Conference players to share LSC Receiver of the Year honors and is in the midst of one of the best - if not the best - career by a Javelina receiver. Armstrong, who was named first-team All-LSC is coming off a season in which he had a school-record 67 receptions with 11 touchdowns for 849 yards. He finished the season with three straight games of 100-yards and now has six in his career. Entering his final season, he has 2,065 yards receiving with 25 touchdowns. Armstrong is just five TD catches off the school record and fourth in total receptions with 163.
Millan is coming off the best season of his career en route to second-team All-LSC honors. He average 41.1 yards a punt in 65 attempts. He just missed a Javelina record for the longest punt by a single yard when booted a kick 87 yards at Tarleton State. Of his 65 punts, 25 landed inside the 20, and 14 travelled over yards.
A second-team, All-LSC performer Brown is entering his third season with the Javelinas. Last season, the senior defensive tackle had 41 tackles including 5.5 tackles for a loss. Of those 5.5 tackles, he had four sacks including two against A&M-Commerce. Off the field, Brown received CapitalOne Academic All-America honors as a kinesiology and exercise science major.
